I wear contact lenses. I asked the doctor prescribed for me the night & day lenses. For those of you who don't know what they are- they are contact lenses that can be worn over night. I explained to the doctor that I usually sleep with my contact lenses in anyway and I thought that the night and day lenses would be healthier option for my eye. He told me he wouldn't prescribe them to me because regardless of the lens you shouldn't be sleeping with any contact lenses in your eyes. I asked him if these lenses would benefit my eye compared to a regular lenses and he responded "yes". So then why wouldn't he prescribe them?? That's like telling someone who smokes that if they're going to smoke they should smoke non filtered cigarettes because they shouldn't be smoking anyway. That's a bad judgement call on the doctor.

I was recently laid off and visited opticare since my new insurance wasn't accepted at my old provider (who was awesome to me for years! Eye care associates, prospect CT). My current insurance does not cover contact lenses so I paid out of pocket for the exam to fill a new prescription. I had been wearing a brand of contact lenses for over 10 years so I knew all I needed was a new prescription. After the exam I was told I would be required to book another appointment to see how the lenses fit, that would cost me an adtl $45. I explained to the receptionist I had been wearing these lenses for 10 yrs, and wanted just the information on my current vision so I could order the lenses online. She informed me I had to pay $45 and come in for an appointment to receive that information. No amount of me explaining that I am a parent of 3 kids, with a limited budget would open her eyes. She suggested that I wait until I get new insurance that would cover the office visit and not wear contacts until then. A disgrace to have visited this office. I only went due to my current Insurance situation. If you have a choice find a different doctor. Terrible service
